October - Focus on Eye Health

Vision problems can occur at any age from birth on. If these vision problems are not treated effectively and in a timely manner, they can deteriorate into permanent vision impairment. Optometrists are the first line of defense when it comes to eye care, and regular checkups are extremely important in order to maintain healthy eyes.

Some guidelines to follow are:

• Infants and Toddlers (birth to 24 months) - By age 6 months
• Preschool (2 to 5 years) - At age 3, and prior to entering school
• School Age - (6 to 19 years) - Annually
• Adult (20 to 64 years) - Every one to two years
• Older Adult (65 years and older) - Annually

Optometrists play an important role in your health and caring for your eyes. Be sure to include a regular eye exam along with the other standard healthcare appointments you make. Your eyes deserve it.
The truth is most people take their eyesight for granted.
